Presented by Kevin Klinemeier
The Agile umbrella is far reaching, and it grows every day as others
uncover new ways of delivering value within their software development
organizations. One set of Agile practices, however, can take an organizations
notion of agility to an extreme level. Continuous attention to technical
excellence is a core Agile principle, an eXtreme Programming (XP, programming
to the extreme) is a proven way to get there. During this one-hour web seminar
you'll get an overview of how XP core values and principles align with Agile,
exposure to the practices that are embraced by teams using XP, and a high-level
review of some of the most popular tools that organizations are using to enhance
their adoption of XP practices.

Managing Director of www.dataanalysis.com and Chris Knotts PMP, ASPE Training
Everybody talks about it. Everybody wants to
understand it. Supposedly all the Fortune companies are using it to reap
exciting benefits. But what does big data mean for the rest of us? Rarely has
there been so much buzz yet so little obvious substance around a business
topic.
The reality is, big data capabilities are very real, and they offer very real rewards for those who know what they're doing. In this one-hour web seminar, data guru and veteran enterprise consultant Darrel Raynor will get past the obvious buzzwords and into the practical promise offered by big data. We will touch on:

Demystifying Traceability
Presented by Ashu Potnis and Sue Thompson, TopTeam Analyst
Traceability is one
of the most important principles of the Requirements Management discipline. It
is the thread that ties all system artifacts together with meaningful
relationships - i.e. trace links. We will explore how principles of
traceability are used in different domains such as:
- Business Applications - Tying
Business Needs to the Application Functionality
- Health Sciences – Ensuring
compliance with FDA CFR 21 regulations. Linking URS, FRS, etc.
- Product Development – Tying
Product Features to Market Requirements
- Manufacturing – Tying
Requirements to Design to Technical Specifications
Learning
Objectives:
- What is traceability? What is a
traceability matrix? Traceability in practice.
- What are leaf nodes? What are
orphan nodes?
- How to perform Gap Analysis?
How to perform Impact Analysis?

Data
Transformation: Why It’s Critical for Agile Analysis
Presented by William McKnight, Richard Winter, Joe Hellerstein
Refining raw data into something cleaner, and ready for rigorous analysis,
is arguably more important in the big data world than it has been since the
dawn of the data warehouse. With big data refinement happening in place
rather than through an extract, transform and load process, rigid pre-defined
data modeling is giving way to more agile data transformation. But the
fact remains that uncleansed data will lead to a poor analytics experience.
Maybe that’s why it’s still the case that only an estimated 20 percent to
25 percent of the potential audience is using analytics to make decisions.
What Will Be Discussed:
·
ETL’s premise and why it doesn’t fit big data
·
How ETL in the BI world differs from data transformation in the big data
world
·
Can restructuring, cleansing and de-duping be . . . fun?
·
How can analytics be applied to data transformation (not just vice-versa)?
·
Data transformation and unstructured data
Who Should Attend:
·
CIOs and CTOs
·
Data scientists
·
Business intelligence developers
·
IT decision-makers
·
Line of business managers

Leaders often proceed under the mistaken belief that
as organizational or technical experts, they can simply think their way through
difficult problems. Yet experimental evidence has time and again illustrated
that so-called experts often do no better than non-experts in such analytical
situations. The Critical Thinking Skills course is focused on providing
practitioners with both the whys and hows of proper analytical techniques. It
provides a detailed presentation of the ways in which practitioners may
consider alternatives and challenge assumptions, all the while illustrating how
evidence-based techniques can greatly improve judgmental forecasting and
decision making in any type of organization.
You will learn:
·
How to decompose information into
smaller elements in order to arrange these into a logical pattern
·
Employ rigorous brain storming
techniques that encourage a broad range of perspectives, including minority and
dissenting opinions
·
Improve your performance as a leader,
manager, and analyst
·
Master techniques to generate
hypotheses that explain available information and can be used to perform tests
to confirm/deny
·
Demonstrate an ability to assess cause
and effect and then perform a critical review of the premises, assumptions, and
logic of the analysis
·
Know how to properly structure and
test your hypothesis
·
Recognize biases and prejudices that
get in the way of reliable analysis
·
Learn how to select the best
analytical tool for a situation from an array of analytic techniques

MapReduce is a programming framework introduced by
Google in the early 2000's. It is targeted at solving problems that have to
work on huge datasets. Rather than devising an algorithm that works on the
entire dataset, the map reduce framework works on several chunks of the same
dataset in parallel during the map phase and combines the results together
during the reduce phase. MapReduce can take advantage of locality of data,
processing data on or near the storage assets to decrease transmission of data.
In this 75-minute session, the author will lead the participants through the following:
·
Introduction to the MapReduce paradigm
in Hadoop
·
Code-walkthrough in Java
·
How does MapReduce work in Hadoop? –
This part will provide an explanation for the internal workings (Shuffle-Sort)
of MapReduce, job scheduling and failure handling in classical MapReduce.

Presented by Bob Galen CSC, CSPO, Principal Agile Evangelist at Velocity Partners
Currently so much of agile adoption—coaching, advice,
techniques, training and even the empathy revolve around the agile teams.
Leaders are typically either ignored or marginalized at best, and in the worst
cases often vilified. But Bob Galen contends that there is a central and
important role for managers and effective leadership within agile environments.
In this workshop, we'll explore the patterns of
mature agile managers and leaders. Those that understand Servant Leadership and
how to effectively support, grow, coach, and empower their agile teams in ways
that increase the teams' performance, accountability, and engagement.
We'll explore training and standards for agile
adoption, and situations and guidelines for when to trust the team and when to
step in and provide guidance and direction. We'll examine the leader's role in
agile at-scale and with distributed agile teams.
Good leadership is a central ingredient to sustaining
your agile adoption. Bad leadership can render it irrelevant or a failure. Here
we'll walk the path of the good, but also examine the bad patterns in an effort
to inspire you and your teams.

Top 7 Negotiation Blunders Certain to Kill Your
Deal
Presented by Kurt W. Mortensen
Secrets That Only Top Negotiators Know
Negotiation is a
different form of influence. There is a time to influence and a time to
negotiate.
Have you ever LOST a
negotiation? Most people have and don’t even know it! What
underhanded tactics are other negotiators using on you? How can you
counteract them?
The worst time to
learn a negotiation skill is when you need it. Negotiation must be
mastered before it is needed, or the opportunity is lost forever. For example,
are you tired of:
·
Losing business deals
·
Not closing sales
·
People not listening
·
Being told no
·
Losing negotiations
·
Not getting your way
There are 7
negotiation blunders you are making right now that cause people to resist you
and your offer. This webcast will get down in the trenches and reveal the
secrets that only top negotiators know.
Each blunder is like
driving around town with your emergency brake on. All the time, you are
wondering why your car (or negotiation) never has much power.
These problems are
simple to fix, but expensive to have. Negotiation has changed
dramatically over the past 20 years. And ironically, some of these
negotiation blunders are still being taught in expensive courses as the
techniques to use!
What You Will Learn
This webinar is certain to open your eyes to the NEW world of negotiation
and influence.
What does it take to
negotiate with power in any encounter? Think about it. When was the last time
you didn't get something you wanted? What happened? Did you fail to
get your point across? Were they influenced by someone else? Here’s a
sampling of what you will discover:
·
Dirty deeds unscrupulous negotiators will use against you
·
Discover negotiation secrets only known to seasoned negotiation
professionals
·
Top blunders average negotiators frequently make
·
How following your natural instinct will cost you millions
·
How to establish instant credibility (even when you don’t have any)
We don’t want this
webinar to be informational. It will be TRANSFORMATIONAL. We want
you to internalize these techniques and start using them as soon as
possible.
While attending this
program is FREE, reservations are required.

Collaboration is a critical investment for many organizations
looking to drive competitive advantage by better arming knowledge workers with
information, access to expertise, and the ability to act collectively on
trusted content. Forrester data shows that over 50% of organizations have
implemented or are expanding their implementation of packaged collaboration
software. While the strategy remains valid, the challenge of driving user
adoption of new and different tools can diminish time-to business value.
Key takeaways:
·
Learn what are the
key challenges with increasing the adoption of collaboration software.
·
Understand why an
integrated strategy for collaboration and content management may help
adoption and drive business value.
