Inclusive Leadership as a Catalyst for Growth

Presented by Christa Kirby

As our global markets, workforce and customers become increasingly diverse, inclusive leadership is taking center stage as a business-critical capability. Inclusive leaders create work environments in which a host of different perspectives, contributions, and talents flourish. They build teams and organizations where people feel a deep sense of belonging and where a focus on well-being amplifies performance.

In this webinar, we will expand the landscape around the concept of “inclusion” to explore a variety of dimensions in which leaders need to be inclusive in order to succeed. How do we leverage best practices in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I) to build teams where everyone feels welcome to fully contribute, learn, and grow? What norms do we need to put in place so that people from different generations and cultures collaborate effectively? How do we foster cognitive diversity and productive conflict to drive innovation in our teams?

Create Engaging Documentation Using Information Mapping

Presented by Patrick Orr, Sales, RAND Corporation

As a business analysis professional, part of your role is defining business problems and pulling together that information for stakeholders. Once you understand the issues and path forward, your job is only half done.

The next critical step is communicating these findings and solutions so stakeholders understand them, and how to act on them. Typical process or requirements documentation can be dense and overly complicated, leading to a lack of engagement with your audience.

Information Mapping® is a research-based Methodology to analyze, organize and present information in a clearly structured and user-focused way. In this webinar, Patrick Orr will show you how this Methodology can help you:

     - communicate information focused on your audience’s needs,
     - use plain language to describe and organize complicated concepts, and
     - develop and use effective templates that speed up the writing process eg a requirements template

Writing Effective User Stories

Presented by Tomette Kirk, BA Manager, Humana

Writing User Stories for an agile project team is simpler than you might think! By using a five-part model, you can write effective user stories for an agile product (or 'requirements' in a waterfall world).

The five parts are: Who? Does? What? Why? Done when?

When you include all five parts in your user story or requirement, you have a better chance of representing the business need, the true actor, and the testing criteria. Leave this session with the confidence that you can write effective user stories!

Learning Objectives:
     1. Discover the five parts of a user story: Who? Does? What? Why? Done when?
     2. Dive deeper into each of the five parts
     3. Review some examples of well written (and not-so-well written) user stories

Stand By Me: Building Ally Skills at Work

Presented by Chirsta Kirby, VP of Talent Development and Leadership Practice Director, Corporate Education Group

In simple terms, an ally is someone who stands up for the equitable and fair treatment of someone who is different from them. Anyone can be an ally for a marginalized or vulnerable group; it involves actively listening and learning about others’ experiences, as well as taking action to end discrimination. Allyship hinges on embracing a learning mindset and a willingness to question your assumptions, evolve your thinking, and owning your mistakes.

In this webinar, we’ll explore the relationship between inclusion and belonging, reflecting on dimensions of diversity that have shaped our personal access to opportunity. We’ll investigate the concepts of power and privilege through a relational lens, identifying concrete steps we can take to interrupt bias and address injustice. Lastly, we’ll delve into real-life scenarios involving micro-aggressions and discrimination, brainstorming ways that allies can take action.
