Requirements in Context
Presented by: Ramsay Millar, Business Architect, Integrate iT
Scott Ambler, a key founder of the Agile movement accurately stated, “If a requirement was misunderstood, all modeling decisions based on that requirement are invalid, the code written is also in question, and the testing efforts are now verifying the application under the wrong conditions”. Project failures caused by poor requirements management are now reduced from 72% in 2005 to about 55% today by using proven best practices. We need to get closer to 10% to be a mature industry. Imagine if 55% of the homes built had to be built over and over.

Mindfulness: A Leadership Superpower
Presented by: Bob Faw, Senior Trainer and Consultant, Corporate Education Group
Leaders' mindsets affect their emotions, attitudes, reactions, and the ability to focus. All of these greatly impact the productivity of their followers. More and more research is showing that cultivating mindfulness can improve these areas. Mindfulness habits also improve both emotional and physical health. mindfulness is characterized by an open, receptive, and nonjudgmental orientation to the present (Martin, 1997). Psychologically healthy, thriving leaders not only benefit themselves, but they also are critical to employee wellbeing. Recent research indicates that when leaders are stressed, they are less able to support their employees, and this in turn directly raises employees' stress.
This webinar teaches you to purposefully "prime" yourself to be more adaptable, positive, approachable, and productive using mindfulness to improve your focus and soothe stress. These techniques can also lead to faster, more effective decision making. This is a time of ever-increasing change, and more data pouring in than we can possibly manage. Our ability to focus well on the most important things is an essential skill for all top leaders.
Learning Outcomes
·
Increase your ability to focus on what is most
important in the moment, instead of being derailed by urgency and other high
emotions.
·
Dramatically improve on-the-fly decision making.
·
Use research-based “brain hacks” choose what to focus
on better.
·
Use a daily practice to increase one’s wellbeing,
health, and “focus muscles.”

Servant Leadership: You Can Lead a Horse to Water, BUT You CAN’T Make it Drink!
Presented by: Glenn Brule, Owner, SLIDE21
Servant Leadership is the cornerstone upon which any Agile Project Management method must rest. In as little as two weeks any team can adopt agile practices. It, however, takes a lifetime to manage high performing teams.
Servant Leadership has been around since the early 70’s and is now taking center stage with a much needed and sought-after approach to increase the performance of autonomous teams. Teams, however, can never completely become autonomous without servant leadership.
Today many organizations are struggling with the concept of servant leadership for one reason; TRUST. It’s a big leap for many to trust that teams are willing to get the work done in the best interest of both the business and customer. It’s an even bigger leap for leaders to trust teams will fulfill all requirements on time and on budget. Finally, it’s an enormous leap for leaders to trust teams may know better than them. Servant Leadership may be the answer.
As an agile coach and practitioner, Glenn will bring a pragmatic and experiential path forward towards the development of servant leaders.
