BA Open Mic

Presented by Adrian Reed, Consultant at Blackmetric Business Solutions

Join us for the Business Analysis Open Mic Night — an immersive, informal and interactive chance to discuss all things BA related (and many other things besides!).

This is not your usual webinar. In this session, webcams and microphones will be switched on, and you’ll have the opportunity to ‘grab the mic’ and speak for up to 3 minutes on a topic of your choice. Each 3 minute slot will be followed by a chance for anyone present to discuss and debate the topic in more detail. So if you have a hot topic you’d like to discuss, why not join us?

This session will be facilitated (or should that be ‘compered’) by Adrian Reed.

Feel free to attend to listen, to participate or to speak — the choice is yours. You don’t need to be a BA to attend–absolutely anyone with an interest in business analysis, change or any related discipline is welcome.

Since this is an interactive and informal ‘live’ event it won’t be recorded. Miss it, miss out

The creator of this approach, Mirko Kleiner and Professional Scrum Trainer Simon Reindl will explore how using this technique establishes an Agile way of working from the outset. “Devils in the Details” with Robert Koshinskie

Presented by Robert Koshinski, Principal at Ringbolt Constulting

The popular, majority view often decides what’s best in everything from entertainment to business practices. Time and again, however, we’ve seen how going along with the crowd can lead to dissatisfying or disastrous results. If only we had taken the time to seek a thoughtful dissenting opinion.

Devils in the Details calls for the rise of modern Devil’s Advocacy to help reduce risk and manage uncertainty. In this webinar we will explore a range of relevant aspects for the BA community, including:

  • The origin of devil’s advocacy and why modern Devil’s Advocates are needed today
  • Why we need to regularly challenge our formal processes, including so-called best practices
  • Different kinds of thinking and common biases and fallacies that can cloud our decision-making
  • How to embrace modern Devil’s Advocacy for diverse and useful dissent without impeding progress
