Business Analysis Webinars for October 2015 - Part II

Translating Requirements to Capabilities
Presented by Scott Young, Consultant

A successful engagement with the correct stakeholders will result in a full understanding of what the vision, challenges and opportunities are, as well as confirm the current state of the organization.

Understanding how the organization currently looks and what it can achieve is the starting point to helping the customer meet their strategic goals and objectives.

This allows an assessment of their current capabilities, which when compared to an analysis of the target state, enables a gap analysis to be performed. The gap in these business capabilities is the opportunity to demonstrate how to deliver solutions tailored to the customer's needs.

In this hour-long webinar, business technology expert Scott Young will cover:

·         Capability Modeling
o   Modeling services.
o   Business conceptual layer.
o   Fulfilling objectives and responsibilities.

·         Capability Gap Analysis
o   Gap between current performance and future performance.
o   Capability gap and complex transformation programs.

Be a Connected Leader: Working Up, Down and Across the Organization to Advance Your Initiatives
Presented by Dave Gray, Management Consultant

The Inside Story of How to Drive Strategic Initiatives

It's sometimes said that there is no constant but change.

With smart phones, apps for everything, and self-driving cars on the horizon, the business world seems to be changing faster than ever. For most organizations, this is a scary time. It seems certain that your industry will be disrupted, although it's hard to know how or when.

With all this change on the outside, however, change from the inside seems harder than ever. People cling to habits and routines, and even when the wolf is at the door, it seems that people resist change, even when everyone knows it's necessary.

It's hard enough to instigate change from the top, but what if you're not the CEO? What if you're somewhere in the middle? What can you do?

It turns out there's a lot you can do. Dave Gray will show you how to navigate the complex underlying social dynamics in organizations, so you can find the doorways that will lead to truly meaningful change.

What You Will Learn

      ·         Why people argue about things that seem obvious
·         Four illusions that keep people stuck in their current mindset
·         Why you can never be objective about your role in change
·         Why behavior is the last thing you should focus on changing
·         How to find the doorways that will lead to real, meaningful change

The Scaled Agile Framework
Presented by Jenny Tarwater

IT Organizations have been using Agile methodologies for years to deliver more value to their customers in less time. While frameworks such as Scrum, Kanban and Extreme Programming enable frequent communication from individual teams to their customers, often we find organizations will still rely on Waterfall relics such as Status Reports, Change Control Boards and multiple meetings to enable this communication beyond the scope of the team and those local goals. The Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), developed by Dean Leffingwell, outlines an approach to help organizations harness the power of Agile throughout the enterprise and then provides a framework to ensure a consistent cadence and alignment between teams, projects, portfolios, and programs moving the entire organization in a shared, positive direction. SAFe seeks to keep everyone informed, engaged, and involved while focusing on delivering the maximum amount of enterprise value. This webinar defines what SAFe is, how it is being used by today's leading development innovators, and how to use SAFe to lead the adoption of Lean and Agile methods across your enterprise.

The future of collaboration: 5 ways to prepare today
Presented by Alan Pelz-Sharpe, Research Director 451 Research

If there’s one thing we know for sure, it’s that business success depends on how easily employees can collaborate across locations and time zones. It also depends on how quickly teams can glean meaningful insights from a steady stream of business data

Today’s businesses are at a crossroads, though, with increasingly dispersed workforces and information fragmented across front- and back-office systems. How can workers collaborate effectively in this disconnected environment and, more importantly, will the future look different?

In this webinar Alan Pelz-Sharpe, Research Director at 451 Research, will discuss how technology markets will evolve over the next five years to bring the idea of a digitally connected workplace closer to reality. Additionally we’ll cover the key elements of the future of collaboration — from dynamic supply chains, advanced analytics, and crowd computing to social business technologies and digital transformation projects. You’ll come away with a better understanding of how these elements will come together to transform how we work in the future, and get practical tips on how to get started today.

The Unpleasant Truths of Modern Business Cybersecurity
Presented by Phillip D. Shade, Instructor, Global Knowledge

From the largest to the smallest company, the inescapable truth is that with the click of a few keys or even a simple phone call, intruders can bypass all of your carefully constructed security. According to the Ponemon Institute's 2015 Cost of Data Breach Study, the average total cost of a data breach increased from $3.52 million to $3.79 million in 2014.

While a number of major data breaches have made the news, often overlooked are the events and decisions that set the stage for the breach to occur. In this hour-long webinar, Global Knowledge instructor Phill Shade will walk through a number of key areas in which today's decisions set the stage for tomorrow's breach. Shade will cover:

·         What we think is secure versus what is reality.
·         A breach's impact on your budget.
·         Better equipping cyber professionals and the impact of not doing so.
·         The pros and cons of hiring outside vs. training internal personnel.
