Understanding your Supply Chain Process
Presented by Jeffrey Giles, Principal Architect, Sandhill Consultants

Globalization has become an undeniable part of commerce over the last few decades. Large and small, public or commercial organizations have grown to source labour and parts from national and international locations. Supply chains have had to keep in step, passing through numerous suppliers to obtain goods and services most efficiently and cost effectively. Supply chains are growing more complex over time as evidenced and witnessed by the growth of transportation and logistics companies that service the transportation needs.
We only become consciously aware of how little we know of our supply chain process when abnormal events occur that disrupt the smooth operation of the supply chain.

During our webcast we will be focusing on the following:
·        How client’s can document their Supply Chain: For example, any procurement and supply team that does not have a good understanding of its supply chain, will be unable to identify , mitigate and avoid risk.  This is a major concern for the organization.
·        Understand Impact, and Lineage Analysis: Allows an organization to visualize, walk-through and audit the steps in a client’s supply chain.
·        Socialization and Communication. The business can now validate the steps and the documented supply chain then becomes a record of what needs to be done, for normal business operations or should abnormal events occur.

We’re Working on That?! - How Project Selection is Broken, and How We Can Fix It
Presented by Vincent Mirabelli, Principal at Global Strategy Synergy Group

Many businesses struggle when it comes to establishing a standardized approach to project management. And nowhere is this more evident than in the process and approach of project selection and prioritization. We build layers of complexity and governance to select what our organizations will work on this year, next year, and beyond, and yet, we know there exists a dirty little secret about this process...it doesn’t matter. Projects are often selected based on political reasons; whose pet project it is, what the HIPPO wants, who holds “sway”, etc. This has the profound impact of generating project waste, through investing time and money on things that simply don’t matter, and on the flipside, missing out on opportunities offered by roads untaken. Often, these projects are misaligned to the needs of the business, the customer, and the staff. No wonder we’re all so frustrated!

In this presentation, we will go backward to find our way forward. Through leveraging a project prioritization tool borrowed from the Lean Six Sigma methodology, we’ll engage in a discussion on the current prioritization process, how incredibly painful it is, and a simple, but effective, alternative to our current project prioritization approach; one that supports and ensures alignment to objectives of the enterprise, supports the needs of the business, and improves the value given to customers. We will give you the power to focus on ensuring your organization is doing the right work, at the right time, in the right priority.

Presented by Ross Little, Executive Managing Partner at IAG Consulting

In this two-hour webinar participants will learn the essential concepts of data modeling required of today's Business Analyst and Project Manager. Effective requirements definition requires a fundamental understanding of data modeling. This webinar lays a foundation of the essential aspects of defining the data model and requirements for a project. IAG, the developer of this program, believes very strongly in this key Business Analysis competency. Every Project Manager and BA involved in requirements definition and modeling needs to know these critical concepts. Without a solid basis of data modeling skills, there is a significant risk that quality and value of use-case, business requirement, and business rule documentation will be significantly compromised. This 2 hour webinar is a perfect course that will give most PMs and BA's everything they need to mitigate this risk and be successful in their roles.
For someone involved or responsible for the business requirements, business architecture or business analysis on a software development project, there are large number of questions to be answered.
·        Do I need to be an expert in data modeling? (No, by the way)
·        How detailed do I need to define the data,
·        Why do I need a data model - especially if we're working on an existing system?
·        Do I need to produce a logical data model?
·        Do I need to know normalization theory (I hope not)?
·        What do we do about data if we're 'Agile'?
·        What about modeling or data definitions for a Business Intelligence project?
·        When and how do I gather data requirements with the SME's? What's the best way?

Learning Objectives:

·        Understand the key concepts of conceptual and logical data modeling
·        Learn the steps to building a data model
·        Write clear and concise and consistent data definitions
·        Apply acceptable modeling principles
·        Use/apply consistent naming standards

Delivering Value in the Fourth Industrial Revolution: The Renaissance of Business Analysis
Presented by Emily Tom, CBAP, President at Ottawa-Outaouais IIBA Chapter

We are in the midst of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, with accelerated technology impacting all parts of society. As BAs, how can we understand this revolution through a BA lens so that we can optimize the value that we provide?

Join Emily as she presents examples of challenges, techniques and accomplishments of the Italian Renaissance to draw parallels with today. Did you realize that famous achievers from the 1400's -1600's, such as Christopher Columbus, Galileo Galilei, and the Medici family, practiced business analysis? Design Thinking for Business Analysts
Presented by Steve Blais, Author, Consultant, Teacher and Coach

Rather than waiting around for someone in the business to give you a problem to solve, wouldn't you rather go out and solve a problem before it has even been defined or acknowledged in the business?

The discipline of business analysis is in the forefront of innovation. Business analysis is behind all process improvement in the organization.
