Emotional Intelligence: Without it the Team Fails

You may be familiar with IQ, which measures your cognitive intelligence. But has anyone ask you about EQ or Emotional quotient? What is EQ? Simply put EQ which is driven by your emotional intelligence is your awareness regarding your actions and feeling, including how they affect the people around you. Being emotionally intelligent means you understand the cause and effect of your actions and words. You understand what the impact of “being you” has on individuals and groups and you understand how to read others emotions and actions and work with their emotional limits. The key to remember is you can never change someone but you can change and adjust yourself. Emotional Intelligences is your about to change and adjust yourself and includes these attributes: 
 
·         Respecting others
·         Listening to others
·         Empathizing with others
·         Identifying with others
 
Knowledge worker do their work in teams. Teams are filled with “others”. Your ability to work with those “others” determines what you get done and how fast you get it done. If you have a high EQ, you get things done fast with minimal impact on the organization.

Requirements Definition Best Practices for Software RFPs

The International Institute of Business Analysis has come up with a plan to institute four levels of certification. This plan includes incorporation of the current CBAP and CCBA certifications, but there will be adjustments.

As organizations flatten to meet the dramatic impacts that disruption and change are having on business, the dynamics of influence are changing rapidly. The old concept of managing up and managing down is being replaced by executing and engaging horizontally throughout the entire organization. To become effective you must show you can get things done while navigating the complexities brought by flat organizations. Flat organizations might at first seem simple to work through. But the reality is much different. Flat organizations can bring more politics and road blocks as the number of people involved in a decision increase. When you democratize the decision making in an organization, things will slow down and there will be some level of dysfunction. This presentation will explain why organizations have started to flatten and how professionals can successfully navigate any organization type. We will compare matrix, command and control, and bottom up influence. Then we will look at the psychology of organizational behavior in order to highlight the key professionals skills required to get execution as well as give real-world examples to show different pathways to execution.
