With anything new there are going to
be difficulties. What starts out a small test with a pilot team leads to a huge
bandwagon affect. This is great but some bandwagoners get nervous when the
problems start and ultimately become the naysayers and finger pointers that can
kill Agile before it even gets a chance to provide benefit.
In this web seminar we will discuss in
detail the top issues that lead to problems deploying Agile. This session will
give you the information you need to keep the bandwagon's wheels here on earth
and avoid the bubble burst when expectations are set too high.
Problems we will discuss include:
·
Self-organized team
function
·
Poor Product Owner
performance
·
Lack of adequate training
and coaching
·
No change management plan
·
Lack of executive support
·
Inconsistent business unit
support
Ultimately Agile success requires an
organization to do some creative destruction which leads to inefficiency and
confusion for a period of time. Be prepared to weather that storm by preparing
your sponsors and management with an understanding of the problems you will
face on your road to incorporating Agile methods into your organization.

Document Elicitation Results
One of the core activities of a business analyst is to
document the various stakeholder needs and solution requirements. There are
various formats and media than can be used to document the elicitation results.
It is important to present the results in a format that is easy for the reader
to understand and navigate and lends itself to updates that are sure to come.
Activities include capturing and documenting requirements as well as importing
and exporting them from various other formats.

The Agile evangelists would say it is
a skill the entire team needs. The IIBA would say it is a role that needs to
grow in order for companies to gain competitive advantage with their technology
deployments and internal automation. PMI (the Project Management Institute) has
also spoken on this topic. Their position, based on the certification they
developed (PMI-PBA) is it's a skill successful project managers add to their
tool kit of skills and techniques. What can be factually attested to is the
following; as SDLC practitioner positions like developers, testers and
architects were being outsource, larger enterprise organizations depended on
building software and systems for competitive advantage have been hiring
Business Analysts. Just look at Indeed or Dice or Monster and see which tech
jobs are HOT and Business Analyst will be in the top 5.
This presentation will break out the
current trends in the software development industry and where BA is seen as
skill and were it is being built out as a role. From there we will take a look
at the pros and cons of each view and where things may end up in the end.
Ultimately giving you critical information as you plan your career growth goals
for 2015 and beyond.

Webinar: Requirements for
Business Analytics
Presented by
Joy Beatty, VP at Seilevel
Normal people don't look at data sets just for fun; they
analyze them to make business decisions. Business analysts are more frequently
finding themselves on strategic projects that turn large and often highly
complex data sets into meaningful information from which conclusive decisions
and actions can be derived. Analysis of big data is already a reality today in
most IT organizations and will grow in significance as businesses look to gain
a better understanding for capturing, structuring and learning from their data.
In this presentation, we will offer advice on tackling requirements for business analytics projects. This webinar outlines how to elicit strategic analytics decisions to help prioritize requirements work, and how to prepare for the future of big data by specifying data needs. Participants will hear examples of questions they can use to engage businesses to think outside the box about their requirements, and consider new possibilities from analytics projects.
